Saturday 29th Nov

I type this with mutilated hands.
20km race
Ended up in a pack with Burkey and Jono, although I'm disappointed that I didn't keep with Trav and Jon when they broke on the first turn.
I did feel a little niggle from my right forearm during the 2nd and 3rd laps, but I was able to loosen it out and prevent it from tightening right up.
Got tipped out by Burkey again on the 6th lap, got back in and joined back with them, feeling a lot more rigid and hateful of everything in the world.
On the very last turn Trav thought he might come and paddle with us to the end, although he just screwed everything up, giving Burkey a lovely wash while completely cutting off Jono.
Finished even with burkey.
Good session I guess.

Friday 28th Nov

Just an easy session, before the big mother tomorrow.
Mainly Indian File, plus a few starts.
Not too much that was exciting, kept up with Trav again in the short sprints.

Wednesday 26th Nov

Today was short, hard and fast.
2x { 4 x 250 }
All hard.
They were quite on and off, I went better on the second set, almost keeping up with Trav on a few. Got heaps more connection which allowed tonnes more power.
Really liked the intensity.
I developed a better and stronger start when we practised them, I stayed completely even with Trav on the last start.

Monday 24th Nov

Today was an short, but alright session.
Wash packs, 20 doubles sprint at the top and bottom corners
Learnt a bit about race tactics on the turns.
Kept up a good rate on the final lap.
Little else to say, nothing of much interest.

Saturday 22nd of Nov

What a day
LD - Pretty crap, although I caught back up to Jono at the final length.
K1 500 final was pretty good, came second to Trav and Reed, strangely for one of the few times I was able to hold relatively good technique and balance despite the horrendous conditions.
Organising and tying on the boats was an exercise in itself.
All in all, pretty short day.

Wednesday 19th Nov

Had its ups and downs.
8 x 300
Speed: 70/80/90/80 90/100/90/100
Pretty good session, I noticed my technique improve the more vertical I made my blade.
Placed well in comparison on the 80% and 90% ones, but for some reason I can't make the jump to 100%
Don't really know why.
Anyway, short, sharp, good session.

Monday 17th Nov

Okay, today we did 8 x 1000
1-4 = 80%/90%/80%
5-8 = 90%/80%/90%
Pretty hard set.
Technique was of mixed sorts as usual, sometimes (mostly against the wind) it would feel great, really easy. But on quite a few it just felt like I was pulling water, really sluggish.
Not much else to say

Saturday 15th Nov

Not the best session.
9 laps. Run on laps 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7
Started off with Jon, but once Trav came along and an ill choice of wash position, I quickly dropped off. Spent the rest of the session with Burkey.
Technique was a bit strange, at the start it was very shaky in my legs, almost like the first time you get in a K1, although I wasn't falling out of course.
Got better, but my speed didn't increase much.
Little else to say.

Wednesday 13th of Nov

Quite hot
Main:
16 x 500 on 2:30
Got between 10 and 20 seconds rest for each
Technique over the first few was brilliant, able to keep up with Trav but over time it detereorated. A hard session, but it just doesn't have that edge which really destroys me. Most likely because we are still doing base training.
There were a couple of start line issues, but this was more of a result from the small amount of time we had to turn around.
Averaged 2nd/3rd place, although mainly 3rd.
Very disappointed with my lack of speed over the middle bulk of the 500's, my wrist problem arose again and I could not shake it.
Learning about the path of the paddle opened up a large amount of options which I observed when paddling standing up, and I found it very hard to be able to discern what was right and what was wrong.
6/10 session

P.S. the 6/10 session is about my performance, not the quality of the session, just in case there was confusion.

Monday 10th Nov

Today we did another simple variation of last Monday's paddle.
3min on (level 2 high)
2min off (level 2 low)
Not very interesting, our pace was painfully slow.
Got a little bit of technique work.
The pad did have an effect in making me feel higher in the water, and it felt like it was easier to glide. The sacrifice of balance was also noticeable, and hurt the starts that we did.
About your comment, don't know what a seated row is. The bent over row I know all too well.
Overall, bit of an ordinary session, nothing special.

Sunday 9th Nov

Today just did some light weights work.
free weights, 8kg each
2 x bicep curl
2 x bench press
2 x tricep
Nothing hard. If you have any suggestions for exercises I should do, fire away.

Plus, good news. Got a foam mat for my seat. Will test tomorrow

Saturday 8th Nov

Egh,
Today we had another 5km time trial, and yet again I failed to meet my expectations
25:31
Did not like it at all, despite how good I felt technique-wise beforehand. None of it came out in my time. Wrist hurt a lot, main reason why my power went down. Not sure how to fix it, if I loosen my hand, how do I get more power through the water?
It seems logical that if I pull harder, more pressure will be on my fingers which strains my wrist flexors.
Overall, crap.

Thursday 6th Nov

Today just did 4 hill runs with Pete and the guys (and Alex)
Not as hard as last week.
Not much else to say really.

Wednesday 5th Oct

OBAMA!
Tonight's session I paddled with Jon in the AK
16 x 500 on 2:30
Got a nice 30-40 seconds rest from the moment we finished
Beat the other guys every time
Technique was good, although the same problem encountered in my race with Trav happened with Jon and I. Backscratching. This limited me technically.
Over the last few 500's, I worked on getting a full twist, exaggerating. Although my twist exaggerated is probably what I should be doing normally. Either way, it felt good, and there was a noticeable change in the amount of leg drive I was putting in and the lessened strain on my arms.
Another good session.

Saturday 1st Nov and Monday 3rd Nov

Start with Saturday
8 laps
Run on lap 2, 4, 6
Pretty good session, worked with Jon. We made it our goal to keep Jono and Burkey at bay (who worked together but started behind us) which we were successful in doing, increasing the lead substantially in the final 2 laps
Didn't focus too much on technique, although that doesn't mean it was horrible
Overall good session

Monday
Today we did 2 min on, 3 min off
low intensity, swapping between level 2 low and level 2 high
Worked on technique for first part, mainly on keeping it consistent during both paces
Trav commented on my high rating, this prompted me to work on lowering my rating. I upped my air time which did make it harder to balance, but of course practise would reduce that.
Overall another good session.
